I sat on the beach for six hours this evening, trying to capture this tree. It reaches for the sky, standing strong with one foot in the water and the other on the shore. I had been trying to do it justice for a couple of weeks, but it wasn’t until this night, after midnight, when the milky way took up its right position and the tree stood, reaching for the stars, that I made this photo.

I acknowledge that this photo was taken on the traditional lands of the Yuggera people, and pay my respects to Elders both past, present and future, and their traditions of respect and sustainability for these lands.
